Support Our Kids : Self-Reliance Support for Children Affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake

April 2023, 1st JLBC Open Fordays Cup Charity Bowling Tournament

On Saturday, April 8, 2023, Fordays took part as a special sponsor of the JLBC Open Fordays Cup Charity Bowling Tournament held at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Bowling Center.
This tournament included 216 women's professional and amateur contestants total. Following the tournament, an awards ceremony took place with winners being presented prize money and the "Natural DN Collagen" as a supplementary prize both presented by President Wada. This tournament was held for the purpose of supporting self-reliance of children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, all admission fees were donated to Support Our Kids.
Fordays will continue to engage in activities in support of relief efforts.

※The Support Our Kids project was launched in June 2011 with the goals of "supporting self-reliance in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake" and "developing leaders for reconstruction". We take part in various activities to support the continued independence of children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

10 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
This year's "Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2021" (sponsored by Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd.), marked its 10th year. With the original event being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was published in newspaper form on the Sankei Shimbun on March 11, 2021. This 30-page newspaper article featured a special interview covering the 10-year milestone from the Japanese comedy duo Sandwichman, both having previously made a special appearance from the 1st to the 3rd festival, and a message from President Wada, etc.

February, 2020. 9th Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2020

The "Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2020" (sponsored by the Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd.), began in 2012 to bring smiles and strengths to those who were still affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. The 9th festival was held on February 9, 2020 at the Tagajo City Cultural Center Grand Hall in Miyagi Prefecture. Talk shows were presented by Mr. Yoshitake Takada, the representative of LIGHT UP NIPPON, and Mr. Kei Nakano, the executive committee chairman of OKIRAI SUMMER, both hosts display fireworks in the disaster-affected regions to show their support for its reconstruction. A lecture was given by a former professional sumo wrestler, Takanohana Koji, the 65th man in history to achieve the highest sumo rank, yokozuna. A special concert was performed by singer-songwriter, Tetsuro Oda which filled the halls with excitement. It was a valuable opportunity for our guests to express hope to rediscover "happiness" to its full extent in the coming future.

February, 2019. 8th Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2019

Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2019 (sponsored by the Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd.), is an event which continuously supports the disaster-affected a regions of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The 8th festival was held on February 17, 2019 at the Sasakawa Memorial Hall in Minato-ku, Tokyo, with the aim to bring the "Tohoku experience" to the whole country. Talk sessions were given by guests from the Tohoku region, and lectures were given by crisis management advisors, followed by a live concert performance which brought excitement to all in attendance. This was a great day to commemorate the great earthquake that took place eight years ago.

February, 2018. 7th Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2018

Tohoku Fukko-sai 2018 was held at Koriyama Citizens' Culture Hall in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture on Febrary 24, 2018.
The festival marked its 7th year with special guest, Professor Ikuo Homma, chairman of the NPO, Calm Breathing Project, explaining the mechanism of breathing and the relationship it has with the mind.
Under the guidance of an instructor, the estimated 1,100 people in attendance were invited to participate in the respiratory stretching exercise, "Ratata Breathing Exercise", demonstrated by the children from Koriyama and students from Tokyo Ariake University of Medical Health and Sciences. This tremendous event took place with the hope of taking another step towards a better tomorrow.

Tohoku Fukko-sai 2017 was held at Morioka Citizens' Culture Hall in Morioka-city, Iwate Prefecture on February 11, 2017.
The festival's theme for that year was "Step Forward".
Last year and the year before, Professor Ikuo Homma, chairman of the NPO, Calm Breathing Project, explaining the mechanism of breathing and the relationship it has with the mind.

Tohoku Fukko-sai 2015 was held at Koriyama Citizens' Cultural Center in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture on February 14, 2015.
The festival's theme for that year was "Always Smile!!"
Even after 4 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, people in disaster-areas still struggling with the sorrows of leaving the comfort of their own homes to evacuate in temporary homes, this brought our much desire to help and bring smiles to those who had fallen victim to these unfortunate events. This event took place with the hope of these victims to keep smiling and be strong.

"Live Strong"

The event to support the rebuilding of the Tohoku region, Tohoku Fukko-sai 2014 (sponsored by the Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd.) took place at the Morioka Citizens' Cultural Hall in Morioka City Iwate Prefecture on February 8, 2014. Non-profit organization (NPO), Calm Breathing Project (Chairman: Ikuo Homma), unveiled the respiratory stretching exercise, "Ratata Breathing Exercise" for the very first time. At this event, Professor Ikuo Homma, chairman of the NPO, (Calm Breathing Project), explaining the mechanism of breathing and the relationship it has with the mind. Under the guidance of an instructor, the estimated 1,500 people in attendance were invited to participate in the "Ratata Breathing Exercise", demonstrated with a song and the children from the Kuwagasaki Elementary School. Following the very first demonstration of the "Ratata Breathing Exercise", we have been accepting application for workshops at elementary schools generally in the disaster-affected areas in Iwate Prefecture.

Tohoku Fukko-sai Festival 2013

To maintain the reconstruction process of the disaster-affected areas, Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2013 (sponsored by the Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd.), was organized to support the relief to the disaster-affected areas.
On February 1, 2013, more than 1,500 people from all over Japan had gathered at the Melparc Hall in Minato-ku, Tokyo. This event presented talk shows from special guests, acoustic performances, and the traditional Tohoku dance performance, "Jangara Nenbutsu Odori" was presented in front of more than 1,500 people in attendance.

We specially organized the Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Tohoku Fukko-sai 2012 (sponsored by the Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd.), taking place for the first time ever with the hope that people in the affected regions would regain their well-being as much as possible.
On February 27, 2012, 1,300 people from inside and outside the prefecture gathered in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, guests supporting the reconstruction in the Tohoku region gave lectures and acoustic performances.

Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Iwate Sanriku Chinkon Fukko-sai

August, 2014. Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - 2nd Iwate Sanriku Chinkon Fukko-sai "Sanriku de Musubu Nippon no Kokoro"

To uplift the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Iwate Sanriku Chinkon Fukko-sai was held in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture at the Sanriku Fukko National Park along the Jodogahama beach on August 23, 2014.
The young Kabuki acting sensation, Sarunosuke Ichikawa made a special appearance on the Okujodogahama stage in addition to the other traditional performing arts from the coastal area of Iwate Prefecture.
On the same day, the introduction of the NPO, Calm Breathing Project's Ratata Breathing Exercise greatly revitalized everyone in attendance.

September, 2013. 1st Kokoro wo Tsunago Nippon - Iwate Sanriku Chinkon Fukko-sai "Sanriku de Musubu Nippon no Kokoro - Hibike, Sanriku no Tamashi"

To uplift the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Iwate Sanriku Chinkon Fukko-sai was held in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture at the Sanriku Fukko National Park along the Jodogahama beach on September 28, 2013.
The "Sanriku Festival and Performing Arts Competition" and "Nippon no Uta Special Concert" were attended by members from Tokyo and other areas, including locals from the Tohoku region giving full excitement for the "Chinkon no Omatsuri" and "Fukko no Omatsuri".

Calm Breathing Project

In March 2021, after celebrating its 8th year of establishment, our sponsorship for the "NPO Calm Breathing Project" has come to a close as originally intended. We would like to thank all the members for their support over the years.
This project focuses on therapeutic breathing exercises for the disaster-affected areas, men and women of all ages nationwide and especially the elderly. Currently, more than 30 trained and certified instructors are working to expand this breathing exercise all over the country.
Although our sponsorship has come to an end, this project will continue under the leadership of President Homma.

We have donated ¥314,950,044 through the reception of Sankei Shimbun Co., Ltd. and the Sankei Shimbun Social Welfare Association as donations for relief activities for disaster victims and the rebuilding of the disaster-affected areas. Fordays Co., Ltd. has donated ¥150 million. In addition, a total of ¥164,950,044 was raised with the help from Fordays employees and 1,979 Fordays members.

Relief Supply Transport

We have transported relief supplies gathered from Members nationwide to the disaster-affected areas Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate. The Fordays Truck traveled 1400km making the arrival to the destination in four days. Rather than delivering the supplies under configuration management, the relief supplies entrusted to us were delivered "Face to Face" from one member to another.
